Convertbot. My go-to conversion app. This app by far, has surpassed all expectations of efficiency. Without a doubt, the best conversion app for the money, in the App Store. The interface is simple, beautiful, and fun to operate. There is a slight learning curve in regards to switching between units and entering information to be converted, but over all, clear and concise.
When opening the app, spin the “wheel” in order to choose a category of measurement for conversion. Once found, tap the button at the lower left side in order to select the unit within the category that you are looking to convert. Then tap “OK” [blue button at the center of the "wheel"]. Now tap the button to the lower right side, to select the unit of measurement you wish to convert to, tap “OK”. After selecting your units, tap the top portion of the screen [above the "wheel"] to bring up the numbers input pad. you will see that the app converts as you type. The top number window will display the measurement in the units you are converting from, while the lower number window will display the measurement converted to the unit you have selected. If you have input numbers which were incorrect, use the red button at the lower right side of the screen to delete digits one by one. If you wish to reverse the conversion, tap the button directly to the left of the “delete” button, and you will see the units switch places in the upper portion of the display, and the conversion will shift accordingly. To exit the number pad, and return to categories, simply tap the upper portion of the display once more.
On the main screen, you will find a means of personalizing the app via settings. An “info” icon is located at the absolute bottom left hand corner, tap it. You will then be taken to a settings interface. Here you can go in to “Categories and Units” to enable or disable a wide range of units, depending on preference or relevance to you. You will also see the option to turn sounds off and on, as well as the Currency Updater.
A beautiful feature is the conversion calculator, which can be enabled from the settings screen. This feature/option allows for you to add, subtract, multiply, or divide numbers from one unit, so that the calculation is converted for you as you go, without having to take additional steps. Time saving, indeed.
Other items available from the settings screen: Decimal Places [as high as 15], Support button allowing you to email bugs etc. from within the app, and an About button. The About button takes you to a screen that gives you a little info about the creator, Tapbots, as well as providing links to review the app on iTunes, follow on twitter, and opt in to receive emails from Tapbots.
If you are questioning the app and whether it is worth the price, spend the money. This is one of my most used apps, and it has never disappointed.
